Compatibility:

This guide will work only on T-Mobile Galaxy S4 SGH-M919. If you aren’t sure about your device, you can check it this way: Home Screen –> Settings –> About device. Don’t try to Root any other device than the mention one. If you do so, there is high probability that you might brick your phone.

  • T-Mobile Galaxy S4 SGH-M919 (Of course).
  • Windows based Laptop or PC.
  • USB Cable to make a connection between the phone & Computer.
  • Odin Muti Downloader Tool (link is mentioned in Download section).
  • Rooting package (link is mentioned in downloads).

Pre-Requisites:

  • Your device must be charged at least up to 70% battery level.
  • It is always recommended to backup all your data from internal storage memory (includes contacts, messages (SMS/MMS), call logs, Internet APNs etc.).
  • Device specific drivers (Samsung Drivers) are necessary and must be installed on your computer in order to make the phone recognized by PC (Odin Tool).   • Disable all security related softwares (like Antivirus) installed on your PC.

  • After downloading the 2 files given in Downloads section, switch off the phone completely. Enter into download mode. To do so, hold Volume down + Home button together. While holding both buttons, simply press Power key till you see Green Android Robot and downloading text written below it.
  • Open Odin Multi Downloader tool on your PC & connect the phone using USB cable.
  • If your phone is connected successfully, youll see that the ID:COM section (located at top left) is turned blue with a random COM port number appeared below it (If your ID:COM box doesnt turn into blue, don’t worry. Just install Samsung drivers using the link mentioned in Pre-requisites).
  • Extract the rooting package to obtain a file having .tar.md5 extension.
  • In Odin, select PDA tab & choose “CF-Auto-Root-jfltetmo-jfltetmo-sghm919.tar.md5″ file. Keep all the remaining options as they are & make sure that Re-Partition box is not ticked.

  • Ultimately, hit the Start button to initiate rooting process of your Galaxy S4 M919. Wait till Odin finishes flashing a rooting package. When flashing process gets done, Odin will display the ‘Pass’ message above ID:COM (with the Green colored background) & device will restart automatically.

Note: Don’t unplug the device till you get the ‘Pass’ message in Odin.

  • (Conditional) However if your phone gets stuck or you get a fail message while flashing process then close the Odin window, disconnect phone from computer, remove battery and re-insert it and follow the same again.
  • Finally unplug the device from Computer.
  • Restart the phone & you’ll observe that, it has been rooted successfully. Here is how you can check if your phone is rooted or not:
